House Lockout

Locked out of your house or apartment anywhere in the Columbus area. We pick the lock open so it keeps working normally afterwards, with nothing to replace.

House Lockout service in Columbus, Ohio

If you are standing outside your own front door right now, call (614) 401-4006. A phone call gets someone moving. A form does not.

We open houses and apartments across Columbus and the surrounding area, at any hour. Door pulled shut behind you, keys inside, keys lost entirely, or a lock that has stopped accepting the key at the worst possible moment.

We pick locks, we do not drill them

Most residential locks are picked open, and the lock keeps working normally afterwards. Nothing is replaced, nothing is damaged, and you are not paying for hardware on top of the visit.

Knob locks are usually quicker than deadbolts, but the aim is the same either way: get you inside and leave the lock working exactly as it did before.

Drilling is a last resort for the rare lock that will not cooperate, and it is something we would discuss with you before doing rather than after. If you have seen videos of someone turning up with a drill as a first move, that is not how this should work.

Interior doors too

Bedroom, bathroom and closet doors count. Those are privacy locks rather than security locks, and they usually open in seconds. A child who has locked themselves in a bathroom is a common call and not a difficult one.

If someone inside is in distress or there is a medical concern, call 911 first. We will still come, but do not wait on a locksmith when someone needs help now.

What we open

  • Front and back doors, deadbolts and knob locks
  • Apartment doors
  • Interior doors, including bedroom, bathroom and closet
  • Garage entry doors
  • Storm and screen doors where they are locked separately
  • Mailbox locks

If your keys are lost rather than inside

Getting you in is the immediate problem. The second one is that a set of keys to your house is now somewhere you cannot account for. If they were lost rather than locked inside, rekeying is worth doing while we are already there. It stops the missing keys working and it is far cheaper as part of the same visit than as a second call-out.

What to have ready

We will ask you to show that you live there before opening the door. A driver’s license with the address, a lease, a utility bill or a piece of mail is normally enough. If your ID has an old address on it, tell us on the phone and we will work out what else will do.

It is a short step, and it is the reason you can trust a locksmith with your front door in the first place. Anyone who does not ask is one to be wary of.

Common questions

Will you have to drill my lock?

Almost certainly not. Most residential locks are picked open and keep working normally afterwards. Drilling is a last resort on the rare lock that will not cooperate, and we would tell you before doing it rather than after.

How long will you be?

House lockouts are treated as urgent calls and we get someone to you as quickly as our current location and schedule allow. Call with your address and we will give you a realistic estimate.

Can you get into an apartment?

Yes, with proof that you live there. If your name is not on the lease, we may need the leaseholder or the property manager to confirm.

My child locked themselves in the bathroom. Can you help?

Yes, and quickly. Interior privacy locks are simple. If there is any medical concern, call 911 first and us second.

Should I just break a window?

No. A window costs considerably more than a lockout, and so does a forced door. Call before improvising.

Are you available at night?

Yes, 24 hours. Most lockouts do not happen at a convenient time.
